![]() ![]() If you have friends coming to visit you in your city, you could put together a Google Street View tour and set of directions so they know what they're looking at.īut, as nice of a feature as this is, $400 is still a very steep price for something that most people can just do with their smartphone, even if that takes a minute compared to the just seconds the Ricoh Theta can do it in. Then you can upload them to Google Maps, and make your own, private walking tour. So that means you can wonder around your neighborhood, your favorite park, or anywhere else you might like, snapping pictures of your most-loved spots. You can then link multiple of these panoramas together to create your own street view, which Google calls a "constellation". The new Photsphere mode in the Android 4.2 camera app allows users to click spherical images and upload them to Google maps for viewing in the Street View app. Updated software for iOS, Android, and computers now means that the Theta can save its photospheres in this format, and upload them to Google Maps or Google+. Much as we assumed yesterday and heard rumors of, after taking a Photo Sphere image on your Android device, users can then choose to upload the images via Google Maps for use in Google’s Street. I have found that before, but its not appropriate for me. When I try to get the code to embed it on a website (clicking 'share or integrate' option when I visualise it on a browser), I only have the option to share the link. Thanks for pointing to the converter from Android Photo Sphere to Google Maps API Custom Street View. This new feature comes through Ricoh making its images compatible with Google's Photo Sphere XMP format, which is natively used in a number of Android phones. I took a photosphere with google street view app and shared it on google maps. Now Ricoh has teamed up with Google to allow you to actually do something with those panoramas- put them up on Google Maps and Google+. One key point you may want to check first is making sure your settings are set to allow you to upload images at full size. If you correctly added the XMP metadata earlier, Google will automatically recognize it as a PhotoSphere image. Ricoh's $400 Theta is an innovative gadget that allows you to capture 360° spherical panoramas with just a single click of a button. You will need to log into your Google+ profile and upload the image there.
